Concept.
I am not interested in loud and impressive landscapes. Using light and spirit of place I am able to take the insignificant and allow it to slowly reveal its significance.
Spirit of Place is that special intangible quality which makes one location of landscape unique and different.
It is a subconscious connection to a place made up of a whole series of smaller yet powerful contributing elements. It is more strongly observed in natural places with varied features and forms. Rocks, sand, water, vegetation and light combine to establish image diagrams - quiet statements & commentaries about thoughts, ideas anf feelings. They document, change, weathering, life, relationship to nature, time and to each other.
All of these images have been taken with film SLR cameras on 35mm transparency or negetive film. David uses primarily Nikon F4 and Olympus OM2 cameras with Fuji Velvia 35mm Slide Film.
